ANYWAY i do it for a few reasons!
the biggest reason is simply because of shapes. i draw everything very rounded to begin with, faces and eyes and noses are usually very soft and rounded, and i dont ever really draw sharp features unless i have to. by taking away the sharp corners of elbows and knees, it just keeps adding to the roundness my artwork already has. it gives it a natural flow which is very important!
its the same thing with a lot of cartoons; for example, the adventure time style that everyone loves (rightfully so!) is very round and bubbly. the characters also dont have defining joints because it adds to the softness and roundness of the designs. usually, the villians are the ones to show joints, because that sudden sharpness to their rounded world is very alien! it makes them appear even more dastardly.
this even shows up in mlp:fim! the villians are always more pointed and angular, and they have much more defining joints than the main cast. the episode where spike goes to the dragon homeland shows this pretty well! the teenage dragons are very angular, where as spike is very round and bouncy.
shapes are very important but im sure nobody wants me to ramble about shapes for forty minutes.
also drawing noodle limbs is really entertaining and i really like the way it looks! not all art has to be so cut and dry serious. the internet art community seems to have this obsession with perfect anatomy, perfect realistic coloring, perfect this perfect that! HAVE SOME FUN GUYS SHEESH! what is even the point in drawing cartoon characters if youre not gonna have some fun?? HAVE FUN GOD DAMN IT

all right so i did a little ‘lineup’ of my characters for my new comic that im working on wooooo! here’s some info on them that you dont care about (in order of left to right of course)
simon bagans - 21 years. amateur ‘ghost hunter’. enjoys horror movies and urban exploration. hates strawberries and rain. after many accidents ‘in the field’, simon has decided to try and get a degree in paranormal sciences. his parents are furious.
chakor khwabgah - 23 years. professional singer/song writer. enjoys reading and occasionally participating in online roleplaying. hates spiders and graveyards. chakor attends school and claims to be majoring in forensic science, but he spends most of his time in the schools theatre group.
samantha rouge - 23 years. avid video game fan. enjoys singing as well, and also crafting her own jewelry and clothing. hates 8am classes and walking downhill. sam is majoring in psychology, but minoring in creative writing, which seems to take more up more of her time.
trent todd - 22 years. watches far too much television. enjoys spending his inheritance on expensive cameras and dvd box sets. hates first person shooters and milk. trent cant decide on a major, he spends most of his time creating ‘documentaries’ about whatever he can focus on for more than a minute.
i feel bad because i am practically a dead blog with how shitty my art is lately so i cant produce anything decent so im behind on commissions and also just. sucking.
